Jacob with Sister Maire.....she is the Aide in the Kindergarten room. She also takes small groups out of the class to work on core subjects or areas that need extra help. She's such a sweetie and like a grandma to all the kids! She reminds me of Ryan's Grandma Margaret Jennissen in a lot of ways!September 4th was Jacob's first day of Kindergarten at St. Dennis Catholic School. He was very excited to get to ride the bus. There are two other girls on our street that ride the bus with him everyday and another family that occaisionally rides the bus (their mom works nearby, so is able to drop them off most days). We were so proud of him the first day....the bus arrived and he walked right up to the bus and got on and never looked back! He was so brave. Ryan and I met him at school and got to see him line up outside and then had a few moments inside the classroom. I hope you enjoy the pictures!
Today was the first all school Mass for the school year and John and I attended as well. All of the songs were sung by the students as well as all of the readings. I was surprised on how diverse his school is! The principal stated that not all of the kids practice the same Christian tradition as us and that even some of the students are of Jesus's tradition...Jewish! Pretty cool to think that a Catholic School has such a diverse student body!
So far he is loving school and comes home happy everyday. Jacob gets on the bus around 7:40 AM and then gets home about 12 noon. Yes, his school is half day, which makes me so happy beccause somedays, he still needs a nap. And now, I can do things with him a for one more year in the afternoons while Johnny takes his nap! Yippee. The other day, went and picked raspberries and tomorrow we plan on going to the library (he got his very own library card on a calss trip and he is sooo proud of it and wants to use it more!)
